From the East
Greetings Brethren,
Happy Holiday and Greetings:
What a meeting we had last month. The first degree was conferred on four candidates. During the break between sections we were honored with a surprise visit from the District Deputy Grand Master and the Grand Lodge Service Chairman ( our old friend and brother R.W. Ernie Pearlstein) for the purpose of awarding Wor. Ted Lavin the Joseph Warren Medal. R.W.Ernie was pleased to say that Ted’s giving of himself and the response from Brethren throughout the state was unprecedented. Congratulations Ted.
One of Mount Olivet’s greatest charitable traditions is our Children’s Christmas Party. It has provided a glimmer of light to children who might otherwise have next to nothing at Christmas.
For many years Wor. Fred Santosousso with help from a few Brethen has tirelessly organized this event and used his talents to put the squeeze on local businesses to contribute. In the past donations have been made to Catholic Charities, The Salvation Army, and Home For Little Wanderers. Donations are welcome.
This month we have five candidates for the second degree. Bro. Ted Poppitz promises to serve up an excellent rendition of the Middle Chamber lecture, my personal favorite. Come to lodge and rediscover the five orders of architecture and beautiful proportions of nature.
Finally I send my sincere wishes for a safe and happy Holiday season to all.

Fraternally yours,
Wor. David Dutting
Master

From the West
Greetings Brethren,

Let me begin by hoping that your Thanksgiving was a good one. This month we will be busy performing the Second Degree on another group of candidates, please come to the meeting and be part of our new Brother’s Masonic career.
We will be voting on more men interested in joining our lodge, remember part of your duty as a Mason is participating in the voting process.
The Children’s Christmas Party is moving along. We still need help, talk to Wor. Fred Santosuosso.

Come down to lodge and take part.

Fraternally,
Wor. Dean Wolfe

From the South
Greetings Brethren,
Of course, when I am looking forward to the filled sideline seats, when I ask for my brethren to attend, I lie around at home with H1N1.
While I’d like to share with my brothers, this virus may not have been a good thing for us to hold in common.
This month, Bro. Ted Poppitz will grace the floor with his Middle Chamber lecture. I cannot wait to hear him; over the years he has been a wonder of memorization and delivery and I expect no less from him this month. He will do his home lodge, Amicable, proud. (If you don’t get the joke, you need to come to Lodge more often!)

Fraternally,
Bro. Lee Fenn

In Memoriam

How swiftly the sand runs

left
On January 22, 1863 the records state that fourteen gentleman, all Master Masons, held a meeting at the home of Bro. Brown to form a new Lodge in Cambridge. Bro. Russell read the petition to the Grand Lodge for dispensation to form the Lodge. In December 1903 the Masonic bodies in Cambridge considered the erection of their own Temple, but it was not until June 30, 1910 that the cornerstone of this present Temple was laid by the Grand Master, Most Wor. Dana J. Flanders. On February 19, 1904 Mount Olivet Lodge met in Odd Fellows Hall, North Cambridge for the first time, and continued to meet there until the present Temple was completed about seven years later. Mount Olivet's first meeting in this Temple was on
September 1, 1911 and a first Degree was worked.
We are 146 years young and in that time we have had:
Eleven District Deputy Grand Masters
One Jr. Grand Warden
Two Grand Stewards

One Grand Pursuivant
Eight District Deputy Grand Marshals
Five District Deputy Grand Secretaries
Six Joseph Warren Medal holders.

We meet in the Cambridge Masonic Hall on the first Friday of each month and all are welcome to attend.
